Senior Citizens Support Programme

Under this programme, door step anointed Ministries has identified 45 elderly people for support.  African culture fabric that depended on family ties is breaking rapidly. The HIV pandemic increased the number of orphaned children rapidly putting a lot of economic and social pressure on family structure that catered for welfare of elderly people in African society. Increased educational needs for orphans have therefore robbed the elderly people from benefiting from family structure resources. There is now therefore need to develop a deliberate programme to replace the family and clan social security structures for elderly people. As medicines, diagnosis of diseases improves life expectancy has dramatically improved in Uganda. Elderly people population has increased.  Save for government of Uganda intervention for the 8 years above who receive approximately 10 dollars per month.  Those from 60yrs to 79yrs have no remedy. Considering that social insurance based on family is collapsing with urbanization, modernization and competitive social economic needs arising from increased number of orphans.

1.4 Registrars’ family support programme:

This program entails supporting Pastors, their families with financial support, clothing and limited school fees sponsorship for their children at Primary, Secondary and University levels.

Pastors and other ministers spend a lot of time in ministry almost on full time level. This leaves then no time to engage in other economic activities. Their families are deprived of resources for their families in favour of the churches placing needs. Pastors’ children are sometimes among the school dropouts due to school fees shortages.  The problem is worse with rural Pastors or ministers who depend on peasantry agriculture.  The programme also noted that Pastors and their wives are usually not properly dressed seeing that they represent the image of God as they minister.  Door step therefore has established a programme to support Pastors and their families with:-

  • Appropriate clothes that include shirts, trousers, belts, shoes, T-shirts, gomeses or busutis.
  • Food stuffs – rice, sugar, soap etc.
